Temperate Forest:
Description: There are 3 different types of Temperate Forest. They include Coniferous, Broad-leafed and Mixed coniferous. They experience four seasons and experience lots of rain.
Climate: They are very wet and foggy places and it rains 150-500 cm each year. They often have two distinct seasons, one long wet winter, and a short drier summer, but you can tell when it is autumn and spring because of the trees.
Plants: Trees are common in Temperate Forest and some live for up to 1000 years. Pine Trees are most common. They are long, big and have prickly leaves. During the year the leaves change into beautiful colours like yellow, red, pinkish and green. They fall off and grow back again in a cycle.
Animals: Many birds and small mammals live in Temperate Forest. They include chipmunks, birds, insects, deer, bobcats and cougars.
Where in the world they exist: They are found in the Pacific coast in North America, Alaska, Oregon, Chile, The United Kingdom, Norway, Japan, New Zealand, and S. Australia.
