Polar Lands:
Description: The polar regions are the coldest places on Earth. Because of the extreme heat caused by global warming, this habitat is slowly melting away. Polar Lands are home to a lot of animals and have a low amount of plants growing on the surface.
Climate: During the summer months, the days receive 24 hours of sunshine but during the winter, the sun is barely seen at all. There is very little rainfall in the polar regions, mainly because it is so cold. There is less than 250mm of rain per year. Temperature can reach -88 degrees in the coldest of all times. 15 degrees is the highest temperature Polar Lands receive.
Plants: In spring and summer the Arctic Circle experiences growth of plants and grasses. There are little plants that grow but some include Conifers and Grasses. There are no plants growing on the frozen Antarctic surface because of the ice surface.
Animals: Animals that live in the Polar Lands usually have a thick layer of skin to keep their bodies warm. Herbivorous appear when plants start to grow in the Arctic Circle. Animals that live in the Polar Regions include Lemmings, Arctic Hares, Foxes, Arctic Owls, Wolves, Polar Bears, Bears, Seals, Killer Whales, Whales, Sea Lions, Lions, Walruses, Narwhals, Fish, Crustacean, Mollusk, Penguins, Leopard Seals, Killer Whales and Whales.
Where in the world they exist: The two main Polar Regions are in the Arctic Circle and the Antarctic. The Arctic Circle covers nearly 5 million square miles and The Antarctic is found in the South Pole.
